DIFFUSING LIFE'S DIVISIVE ISSUES

The Progression of LIFE

Excerpt from: "Freedom for LIFE - All of God Inside You"

When you were an infant, you had a basic understanding of life. It would’ve been unwise to explain certain concepts to you at this stage, because you simply wouldn’t have had the ability to understand. As you grew older however, you began to grasp concepts like obedience, trust, life and death. Then once you matured, you had the ability to understand the motive behind these concepts of life. This is exactly what happened between God and mankind. Hundreds of years after Adam and Eve, God gave mankind The Law through Moses.

According to Hebrew culture, the term “Law” was translated from the term “Torah” or “The Teaching”. Prior to The Torah, God spoke audibly to mankind; teaching the concepts of life and death through sight and sound (Genesis 4:9). When The Torah was given through Moses, it revealed the strength of sin and gave us a sense of The Father’s perfect standard of righteousness. Yet mankind had to live long enough “under” these standards of perfection before The Father sent Jesus to reveal His grace and truth. Jesus’ life revealed how to live out the motive for The Law. Notice these Scriptures that reveal this truth:

Galatians 4:4-5 (King James Version)

4But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 5To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

Matthew 5:17 (KJV)

17Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.

Matthew 22:37-40 (KJV)

37Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38This is the first and great commandment. 39And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. 40On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Friend, The Father’s motive for giving us His Torah [His Teaching] is love. The Torah points us to our need for The Savior; for through Christ, we have been reconciled back to The Father. Only through faith in Jesus are we declared righteous.

I believe that The Bible is broken down into three sections that reveal how The Father treated us concerning His Word. From Adam to Moses, God spoke His Word to mankind audibly and didn’t impute or charge men for their sins (Romans 5:13). Then, when God gave us His Word through The Torah, mankind had to atone for every sin that was committed through the blood of animals. However, these atonements never settled the issue of sin once and for all. Finally, The Father sent The Lord Jesus as His Word manifested in the flesh (John 1:14). The Father poured out His wrath on Jesus; freeing us eternally and resolving the issue of sin once and for all through The Cross (Hebrews 10:1-10, Romans 3:19-22).
